Dr Peter Stepien Awarded Engineers Australia Professional Engineer of the Year - Newcastle Division

Congratulations to ResTech’s Dr Peter Stepien who has been awarded the Engineers Australia, Newcastle Division, Professional Engineer of the Year at the Sally Chapman Memorial Dinner on September 6, 2019.

Completing his degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Newcastle in 1987 and his PhD with the University of Sydney, Peter has worked in a number of academic and research positions. Commencing as a cadet at the Electricity Commission of NSW, Peter went on to become the Engineering Manager at the Centre for Industrial Control Science at the University of Newcastle.

Since joining ResTech in 2007, Peter has also held a number of academic positions including Visiting Lecturer at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China, and is currently a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. Throughout his professional career Peter has been involved in numerous projects, including Orbtrack, a satellite tracking system for earth stations and UNAC, an advanced control system.

Peter is also an active participant with the Newcastle Division of Engineers Australia and is the current Chair of the Electrical Branch Committee, who support Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities through monthly presentations in person and online via webinar.

We wish Peter the best of luck as he progresses to the national award later this year.
